ABOUT CQS
CQS center for Quality and Standard is a private initiative that has collaboratively evolved through
consultations with multiple constituencies including Indian and international academia, state and central
governments, multi & bi-lateral agencies and civil society groups. CQS is a dynamic organization which is a
continuously evolving response to optimize the limited institutional capacity in India for strengthening training,
research and policy development in the area of Public Health.
Structured as an independent foundation, CQS adopts a broad, integrative approach to public health, tailoring
its endeavor’s to Indian conditions and bearing relevance to countries facing similar challenges and concerns.
The CQS focuses on broad dimensions of public health that encompass promotive, preventive and therapeutic
services, many of which are frequently inadequately focused upon in policy planning as well as in popular
understanding.
CQS recognizes the fact that meeting the shortfall of health professionals is imperative to a sustained and
holistic response to the public health concerns in the country which in turn requires health care to be addressed
not only from the scientific perspective of what works, but also from the social perspective as necessary for the
environment
CQS is organized as Program Divisions (Academic, Research, Training, Health Promotion, Health Systems
Support, Accreditation Certification), Constituent Units, and Operations Divisions (Finance, HR, Infrastructure
& Facilities, IT, Administration, Legal, Communications). All division/institute/function heads have a final
reporting to the President of the CQS
The President, as the head of the CQS is assisted by Advisory Councils, Management Committees, Research academic council and the senior management team.

ABOUT NFB
The word “Biopharmaceutical” is an amalgamation of Biotechnology and Pharmaceuticals. It reflects the convergence of what were once two distinct industries. Biopharmaceuticals are medicines typically derived from living systems and produced using Biotechnology- e.g. production of recombinant therapeutic proteins, vaccines, blood using microbial cells or somatic cells. The discipline also encompasses gene therapy. Genetically engineered biopharmaceuticals have impacted healthcare by providing medicines which are irreplaceable and are life-saving. The repertoire of these molecules is constantly expanding and success of established biopharmaceuticals is attracting biosimilar-production industry for providing these molecules at substantially lower cost to vast number of patients. However, these genetically engineered biopharmaceutical molecules are also extremely complex structures. Healthcare regulatory agencies demand detailed analysis of these molecules at all levels of development, commercial production and during stability and safety evaluations. Over the past decade, the BioPharma industry has developed many such Biologics, as they are also called. And follow-on versions of some of the earliest biologics made via recombinant DNA technology, including biosynthetic human insulin and human growth hormone, are now available. These are known as Biosimilars.
